Henry Lawson Cave

On the North Shore of Sydney in the suburb of Willoughby is a small cave which is known as Henry Lawson Cave. The famous Australian poet and author occasionally used this cave as a refuge and he presumably rested, wrote and drank here.

The cave itself, although reasonably accessible, is well preserved and has been used by Willoughby council for commemorative events to celebrate Lawson's birthday. The council has built stone terraced seating across the path in front of the cave, facing the cave so it forms a beautiful setting for public readings of Lawson's work.
